my mission to help men

As my very first blog post, I figured a fitting topic would be why I’m here.

The immediate answer comes in two parts. Firstly, because I kept going. Secondly, I want to help other men who are where I once was.

That place is of stuckness. Of knowing you should do something to change your life, without knowing what or how. It’s a feeling of failure. Even if it’s not entirely true, you can’t help but feel you’re letting yourself and everyone else down.

It’s a place where you do things to escape… even just for a moment or a night.

It’s a place where thinking of the future terrifies you.

This was how my twenties started. But through my persistence and connecting with the right supports, I was able to change the narrative of my story. And I’ve since opened many amazing chapters.

Now, as I near forty, I’m living a life that makes me happy and fulfilled in so many ways. With the most meaningful part being my work as a therapist where I’m able to use my professional and lived experience to help other men to become their best selves.

This is during a time when men still struggle in silence. When being vulnerable feels unsafe and risky. And the right words are hard to find.

It’s also during a time when the online world is full of fake gurus and self-described “alpha males” promoting unhealthy ideas about masculinity and “programs” that over-promise and under-deliver.

Amongst all that bullshit, I’m here on a proper path to personal growth. I’m here to walk alongside those who are ready to start their journey. I’m here to hold hope for them and provide support as they develop their own strengths.

I want all men to have the opportunity to become better men. To come to a place of acceptance and authenticity, where they feel happy as opposed to walking around hardened by anger. I want men to understand their emotions and express them in a regulated way.

I want to make the world a better place, by supporting men to become better men.
